God Qualifies the Called

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." – 2 Corinthians 12:9
It's easy to feel like we've failed when our lives don't line up with what we think a "good Christian" should look like. Maybe you've poured into others, shared Scripture, or even led in some way, but then stumbled in your own walk. Suddenly, the enemy whispers the word hypocrite into your ear, and shame convinces you that you're no longer fit to be used by God. But here's the truth: God has never called perfect people. He calls the willing, and then He uses them for His purposes.

Think about the men and women God used throughout Scripture. Moses doubted himself and begged God to send someone else. David committed sins that could have easily disqualified him in the eyes of people. Peter denied even knowing Jesus––not once, but three times. Yet God did not cast them aside. Instead, He met them in their weakness and used them to accomplish incredible things for His kingdom. Their shortcomings didn't cancel God's call on their lives; they became the very places where His grace shined brightest.
Fasting, praying, serving, or preaching were never meant to prove our worth – they were meant to draw us closer to God. When we stumble, it doesn't mean we are finished. It means we're human. And in those very moments, God's Spirit is still at work within us, reminding us that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. He doesn't ask us to be flawless before He calls us; He qualifies us along the journey.
So if you've been feeling disqualified, take heart. You are not a hypocrite because you struggle. You are a child of God who is being transformed day by day. Your story, even with its broken pieces, can still point others to His redeeming grace. Don't count yourself out – if He's called you, He will equip you. His grace really is enough.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that You don't call me to perfection, but Your presence. Thank You that You use ordinary, imperfect people to carry out Your extraordinary plans. Remind me that I am not disqualified by my failures, but qualified by Your grace. Amen.
