Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38
God is the God of all grace! He loves to give, bless, and empower. One of God's chosen ways to do these things is through us; He wants us to be the vessel of His blessings.
Our blessings are based upon our willingness to bless others and our measure of treating and judging others will be the basis used for how we are treated and judged by others and by God. In other words, God has been gracious with us; we can either share that graciousness or abuse it.

It can be tempting to hear this scripture and focus on what we get out of giving, but in doing so we would miss the point. Jesus preceded this statement with:
"Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked." Luke 6:35.
We don't give to get things; we give because God delights in our generosity. Our love for others reflects His loving heart toward us.
Prayer
Gracious Father, help me to give generously to others because You've been so generous to me. Open my heart and help me to be generous in offering my time, talents, forgiveness, and graciousness. I want to use the many blessings and resources, which you have entrusted to me, to bless others and bring you glory. Father, embrace me with your Holy Spirit and guide me to give forgiveness and love to others just as Jesus Christ has done for me. You are such a good God and I pray that I could show that goodness to those around me. Amen.
